Avery, an accomplished freshman, is the founder of RelightNY. Apart from playing the piano since the age of four and “hooping it up” with Collegiate’s junior varsity basketball team, Avery has recruited a dedicated coalition of teens ready and willing to make a difference in the environment.
Daniel, a 15-year-old aspiring lacrosse player, is part of RelightNY’s presentation development team. With experience in community service through volunteering at Park Avenue Synagogue’s Food Pantry, Daniel aspires to be a strong member of the RelightNY team.
Peter, a dedicated English student, helps run RelightNY’s Web site. In his spare time Peter enjoys listening to music and playing guitar. Peter is an avid sports fan and plays baseball, basketball and football. He plans to participate in a creative writing program at Columbia during the summer of 2007.
Peter, a former student of Collegiate School, now attends Loomis Chaffee, in Connecticut. At Loomis, he plays varsity soccer and tennis and is an active member of the Student Council. His responsibility on the RelightNY team is to build and maintain the project's website, along with Peter Chapin.
Fifteen-year-old Brendan is the oldest of four children. Along with playing basketball for Collegiate’s junior varsity team, Brendan zealously practices three different instruments. As an original member of RelightNY, Brendan created the framework for the PowerPoint presentation that will be shown to corporations and other potential donors.
Taiki, an accomplished baseball player, co-leads RelightNY’s social networking program with Will Pagano. He helps to manage and motivate the 500 members (and growing) of RelightNY’s Facebook group. Taiki will travel to Peru in the summer of 2007 for three weeks of community service.
Will, a basketball and baseball enthusiast, is focused on expanding the social networking capabilities of RelightNY. When he isn't informing, educating and recruiting new members for the group, he enjoys practicing viola. All that practice has paid off as he is the lead violist for Collegiate’s upper-school orchestra.
At 14, Jack is currently the youngest member of RelightNY. Jack is not yet in high school, but he already demonstrates an avid interest in cooking, baseball and, of course, the environment. Jack helps round out the stellar group of young men working on RelightNY’s PowerPoint presentation.
Stephen runs the research and development aspects of RelightNY. Stephen is a bright young student who is currently on the staff of his school’s newspaper. As a multi-sport aficionado, he enjoys rooting for the New York Yankees.
